Description

New processor
Already seen in the Z6, the processor is renewed by the Expeed 6 and always associated with a 24.5 megapixel sensor. Nikon introduces a new 180,000-point detection cell that manages face detection as much as white balance or exposure.

The maximum sensitivity allowed is now ISO 51,200. In extended mode, the setting goes to ISO 50 minimum and goes up to ISO 204 800. The burst can reach 7 fps with exposure tracking and autofocus activated. In silent mode, 12 fps will be the fastest rate. On the shutter side, the maximum speed is doubled to peak at 1/8000 s.

Improved autofocus
The nerve center of war, the autofocus has been improved on the D780. In screen view, the technology is now hybrid while phase detection is used in optical view. 51 collimators are available with the latter, against 273 in liveview.

A low light mode is also available for taking photographs down to -7 EV, but without optical sighting. Several tracking modes are available for both optical and screen viewing. Nikon integrates eye detection in liveview to facilitate taking portraits. Autofocus algorithms are notably derived from the high-end professional D5.

4K / UHD 30 fps video with HLG
The D750 did not have one, it is now corrected with the D780. 4K / UHD at 30 fps is finally integrated. Thanks to an external recorder like an Atomos Ninja 5, the reflex can generate a 4: 2: 2 stream with 10-bit N-Log, but also Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) which is used to make videos in HDR . The recording will be done without cropping while a 120 fps mode is integrated in FHD.

On the ergonomic side, a better screen
The viewfinder of the D780 always covers approximately 100% of the image and the magnification of 0.7x, as with the D750. The rear screen, always vertically adjustable, becomes tactile. It more than doubles its definition to 2.59 megapixels.

  • Take your passion to the next level
FX 24.3MP format sensor and EXPEED 4
Like every Nikon D-SLR full-frame camera, the D780 achieves a level of picture quality that some other manufacturers can’t match. Newly designed 24.5 MP CMOS image sensor paired with EXPEED 4 image processing for fast frame rates, low noise, wide ISO ranges from 100 to 12800 (expandable to ISO 51,200), HD video with improved definition and noise reduction at High ISO sensitivity, minimal moire, jaggies, pseudo colors and Nikon’s first performance – autofocus down to -3EV. Besides a variety of NIKKOR full-frame or DX-format lenses, the D750 is able to tell any story you can imagine.

Dexterity meets agility.
Dexterity through the splendor of full-frame photography, 4K video, slow motion, time lapse, long distance exposure and a host of impressive creative imaging tools to keep inspiration flowing. Agility with key technology improvements such as the advanced 180K Pixel Scene Recognition system, superb phase detection autofocus in photos and videos, and wireless image transfer with ease to keep up with every innovative requirement. D780 is the creator’s dream. As the successor of the broken Outlook D750, it’s a serious upgrade in speed, image processing, video capability, autofocus performance and much more.
