Snapdragon 820 boosted by 6 GB of RAM
As you can imagine, it’s a Snapdragon 820 processor found on board. The latest Qualcomm monster for high-end mobiles, which consists of four custom Kryo cores and an Adreno 530 GPU offering very good graphics performance. It is also found on the LG G5 and HTC 10 as well as on the American version of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Everything will be accompanied by 6 GB of RAM.
6 GB of RAM only to look pretty?
The OnePlus 3 is the first smartphone sold outside of China to offer 6 GB of RAM, so certainly, it causes a sensation on the technical sheet but the problem is that to preserve the autonomy of the phone, the company has planned a very aggressive RAM management. Applications running in the background close very quickly and the phone is constantly forced to charge them. Suddenly, it loses fluidity and even does worse than the Galaxy S7 Edge on the speed tests.
Fortunately, while waiting to install a Custom ROM, it is possible to solve the RAM problem of the OnePlus 3 with a little manipulation.
5.5 inch Optic AMOLED screen
While some manufacturers swear by Quad HD, the OnePlus 3 retains a Full HD screen definition of 1920 x 1080 pixels in a 5.5 inch format. A very good thing, both in terms of performance and autonomy.
Finally, note that as with Samsung, the AMOLED panel offers different display profiles and the one on which it is set by default when unpacking is not necessarily the best. That said, a quick tour of the phone settings will allow you to find the profile that best suits you.
Note that the company had already used an AMOLED screen in the OnePlus X but this time, it decided to go further by improving the technology offered by Samsung. Thus, we are talking about a Super AMOLED screen to which the company has added its own personal touch in order to make the contrasts and the color temperature more faithful to reality. The visibility offered by the screen outdoors has also been improved.
However, the technology used is no longer the same. While for the past two years, OnePlus had used us to IPS panels, this year, the Chinese manufacturer offers us an Optic AMOLED screen with ultra-bright colors.
OnePlus 3 update
The device has just received its first update, it is called Oxygen 3.2.0. it improves the screen thanks to the presence of an sRGB mode to activate in the developer settings, the latter allows for much more natural and less cold colors. However, you will have to reactivate this mode each time you restart your smartphone.
Another very important point, the RAM, it will now be much better exploited, the OnePlus 3 will no longer automatically close the applications and allow many more to run in the background which will allow them to reopen instantly. The company is making other improvements. Note for example the improvement of GPS, camera performance and sound. It also fixes notification, gallery, and music and clock applications. Finally it brings the latest security patches from Google.
