The release of Huawei’s P40 series was an open secret, but choosing between 3 models, with prices, different technical characteristics is not an easy task.

P40 photo sensors
Let’s start with the most important point of comparison: photo sensors. The three P40s have only one photo sensor, the “Ultra Vision Wide Lens” of 50 Mp.
The P40 has a 16 MP ultra wide angle photo sensor and an 8 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.
The P40 Pro exchanges these two additional cameras for an ultra-wide-angle 40 Mp “cinematographic lens” and a 12 Mp 5x optical periscope telephoto lens. It also has a Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor.
Finally, the P40 Pro + has the same 50 and 40 Mp sensors, to which are added a 3x 8 Mp optical telephoto lens, a 10x 8 Mp optical super-periscope and a ToF sensor.

Regarding the selfie sensor, all P40 models have a 32 Mp sensor, but the Pro have autofocus and IR, in part to improve facial recognition.

The most interesting is of course to look for in the photo. There are 3 optics on the back of the P40 and 5 on the back of the P40 Pro. The exact configurations of these modules are not yet known, however. We can however expect an optical zoom x10 on the most expensive model, which can go up to x50 in hybrid zoom.
Finally, in terms of price, Huawei could lower its prices this year to compensate for the absence of the Google Play ecosystem. Meet at 2 p.m. to make sure.
